“This work references the groundbreaking discoveries of Polish scientist Witelo, who, as early as the 13th century near Viterbo, Italy, observed how rainbows form and how light behaves as it passes through droplets of water sprayed by a waterfall. Inspired by these observations, he became the first person in the world to design and conduct an experiment to split sunlight using a quartz crystal.”
